Interpretive Summary: Metallic wood-boring beetles are among the most important insects for U.S.agriculture and forestry. Many are serious forestry pests and , includeing several introduceddevastating invasive species (e.g., a notorious recent introducent, the emerald ash borer (EAB)), being one of them. This work provides an annotated check-list of 106 buprestid metallic wood-boring beetle species known to occur in Louisiana during the pre-EAB eraprior to detection of the emerald ash borer there in 2015(this species has reached extreme north of the state only in 2015). The check-list is based on almost 5,000 specimens from the major south-eastern US collections and the Smithsonian's National Museum of Natural History. Nine species are reported in Louisiana for the first time, data on species phenology and actual and potential plant hosts for the family in the state are also provided. This study will be useful to forest managers, taxonomists, ecologists, state and federal regulatory agencies, and anyone interested in plant feeding beetles.

Technical Abstract: We report 106 species of Buprestidae from the state of Louisiana, 97 species based on 4879 specimens examined and nine from previous literature records. Seven new state records are reported, including the first published record of Agrilus planipennis Fairmaire (emerald ash borer), which is now established in the northern parishes of the state. Five new state records are based on specimens taken during biomonitoring surveys using the buprestid specialist wasp Cerceris fumipennis Say. Potential host plants of buprestid species in Louisiana and collection date ranges of specimens examined are provided.
