Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Film thickness is an important tribological property that is dependent on the combined effect of lubricant properties, material property of friction surfaces, and the operating conditions of the tribological process. Pressure-viscosity coefficient (PVC) is one of the lubricant properties that influences film thickness. In this work, various approaches are used to determine the PVC of biobased lubricants derived from soybean oil. The effect of lubricant chemical structure on PVC values are discussed.
