Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: To better understand chikungunya activity in the America we mapped recent chikungunya activity in the Americas. This activity is needed to better understand that the relationships between climatic factors and disease outbreak patters are critical to the design and constructing of predictive models. In 2015 chikungunya activity is present in all regions of the Americas, with most locations in Central and South America, and as of 28 July 2015 there were 249 chikungunya virus disease cases reported from 35 states. All the reported cases were from travelers returning from affected areas and none were locally transmitted in the U.S.
