Interpretive Summary: Research and development methods are described for the generation of monoclonal antibodies and their use in mobile immunoassay platforms to improve animal health and food safety.

Technical Abstract: Novel methodologies and screening strategies will be outlined on the use of hybridoma technology for the selection of antigen specific monoclonal antibodies. The development of immunoassays used for diagnostic detection of prions and bacterial toxins will be discussed and examples provided demonstrating rapid detection methods that include lateral flow test strips and microfluidic devices.
