Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Ultra-low volume and low volume insecticide treatments commonly used to control mosquito populations were evaluated for efficacy against Culex quinquefasciatus using a topical bioassay technique. Traditional topical bioassays focus pesticide application to the mesothoracic pleural area. Although, insecticides are known to impact other exoskeletal body regions, sensitivity in these regions remains unknown. We expect our findings to influence the topical bioassay evaluation process by illustrating an insecticide sensitivity difference in mosquito body regions that ultimately may impact insecticide droplets during field applications.
