Interpretive Summary: The citrus leafminer, Phyllocnistis citrella, is a global pest of citrus. Damage is caused by larval mining of the leaves that reduces photosynthetic capacity of the leaves and predisposes the wounded leaf to infection by the bacterium that causes citrus canker disease. This entry in the encylopedia published online by CABI is a revision to the sections describing impact of the pest, prevention and control. A description of pheromonal control including recent advances in mating disruption of the leafminer is now included.
