Symposium introduction: the first joint American Chemical Society Agricultural and Food Chemistry Division and the American Chemical Society International Chemical Sciences Chapter in Thailand. Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry. 63:9379-9380.

Interpretive Summary: The American Chemical Society (ACS) Agricultural and Food Chemistry Division (AGFD) and the ACS International Chemical Sciences Chapter in Thailand (ICSCT) worked together to stage the “1st Joint ACS AGFD - ACS ICSCT Symposium on Agricultural and Food Chemistry,” which was held in Bangkok, Thailand on March 4-5, 2014. This is a historic event, being the first international scientific meeting co-organized by an ACS Division and an ACS International Chapter. The symposium consisted of four topics: Food Bioactives and Health, Flavor Chemistry, Food Safety, and Dairy Products. The papers included in the cluster represent the diversity of research works presented at the symposium encompassing the scope of the four symposium topics. This cluster includes four review and six original research articles. Papers on other oral and poster presentations, not included in the symposium cluster, are published in the Symposium Proceedings. The symposium provided a forum for exchange of ideas and knowledge on developments and current trends in field of agricultural and food chemistry, between 180 participants from 12 countries. This successful event was culminated with an award (the Partners for Progress and Prosperity Award) given to AGFD and ICSCT by the ACS
