Interpretive Summary: Information on origin, and important characteristics of new fruit tree rootstocks for use with peach, plum, almond, and apricot varieties are provided. This information is useful to breeders, extension personnel, nurserymen and growers. Technical Abstract: New clonal Prunus hybrid rootstocks offer improved adaptation to site related problems including soil borne diseases, waterlogging, droughty or calcareous soils and various species of nematodes. Additionally, they offer varying degrees of vigor control compared to standard seedling types which provide significant reductions in pruning, thinning, picking and the use of ladders. |
