The resulting shoots are either subdivided for continued multiplication or rooted and acclimatized to the greenhouse or field. Micropropagation is a continuous process that is commonly divided into 5 stages: Stage 0, Stock plants; Stage I, Establishment; Stage II, Multiplication; Stage III, Pretransplant stage, rooting; and Stage IV, Acclimatization. Each stage depends on the previous one, but has very different objectives and requirements all leading to the production of genotypically and phenotypically uniform plants.
