Interpretive Summary: Warm weather poses management challenges to maintain production efficiency in broiler chickens. Proper maintenance and operation of ventilation and cooling system components is essential to maintain the proper thermal environment and efficient use of energy. Fan and evaporative cooling system cleanliness is paramount to ensuring maximum airflow through the building. Fan belts should be replaced yearly to obtain fan speeds specified by the manufacturer; worn fan belts can result in a loss of air speed of 10%. Evaporative cooling pumps should provide at least 0.75 gpm per linear foot of evaporative cooling pad material.
