Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Wastes should no longer be wasted. This article describes how animal manure can be utilized by converting it into activated carbons. These activated carbons are then utilized to adsorb unwanted pollutants because of their high porosity. The animal manure will eventually help to remove odors from drinking water supplies and help to limit the levels of metal contaminants released from waste water facilities. This article discusses the ongoing active research on conversion of poultry manure in the US.
