Interpretive Summary: Leaf-inhabiting fungi cause significant damage to crop and horticultural plants. Many fungal species exist that have been described and named over the past century. The scientific names of fungi are governed by a set of rules that help to standardize them. In this research four species of leaf disease-causing fungi on horticultural plants were determined to be named inaccurately, i.e. they did not follow the rules. The correct scientific names that follow the rules are proposed. This research will be used by plant pathologists to communicate clearly about these fungi that cause diseases.

Technical Abstract: Cercospora haleniae is validated, Cercospora tragiicola sp. nov. and Passalora halesiicola sp. nov. (Cercospora halesiae nom. inval., Passalora halesiae comb. inval.) are described and the combination Pseudocercospora nepheloides is introduced.
