Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Genetic marker technology for selection of beef cattle has changed and continues to change. Some ideas about how this technology would be used and how much of the genetic differences could easily be identified have changed. New approaches based on what we have learned so far and on new genotyping methods originally developed for humans will likely lead to ways of identifying a much higher proportion of genetic differences.
