Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Culture characteristics - (in the dark, 25 °C after 7 d): Colonies on MEA 30–31 mm diam, velutinous to slightly floccose, mycelium white, sporulation abundant, cream-buff [R30; Ridgway (1912)], exudate clear, small droplets dominate, soluble pigments not observed, reverse cream-buff to chamois (R30). Colonies on Czapek yeast autolysate agar (CYA) 14-15 mm diam, velutinous to slightly floccose, mycelium white, at margins ca 2–3 mm broad zone of submerged growth, sporulation abundant, cream-buff to chamois (R30), no exudate or soluble pigments observed, reverse cream-buff (R30). Colonies on potato dextrose agar (PDA) 29-30 mm diam, velutinous to slightly floccose, mycelium white, sporulation abundant, cream-buff (R30), exudate clear, small droplets dominate, soluble pigments not observed, reverse cream-buff (R30). Colonies on oatmeal agar (OA) 19–20 mm diam, slightly floccose, mycelium white, at margins ca 4–5 mm broad zone of submerged growth, sporulation abundant, cream-buff to chamois (R30), exudate, sparse, no soluble pigments. Colonies on Czapek yeast agar with 20% sucrose (CY20S) 14–15 mm diam, velutinous, mycelium white, sporulation good, cream-buff (R30), no exudate or soluble pigments, reverse uncoloured to cream-buff (R30). Colonies on dichloran glycerol agar (DG-18) 8–9 mm diam, velutinous to slightly floccose, mycelium white, at margins ca 3 mm broad zone of submerged growth sporulation abundant, cream-buff to chamois (R30), no exudate or soluble pigments observed, reverse cartridge buff (R30) to cream-buff (R30) to chamois centrally (R30). Colonies on Czapek yeast autolysate agar with 5% NaCl 2–3 mm diam, sporulation not observed. Colonies on creatine sucrose agar (CREA) 19–20 mm diam, no acid production, mycelium white, predominantly submerged, sporulation good at the centre of the colony. Colonies on CYA/MEA at 20 °C 9–10/19–20 mm diam, at 30 °C 16–17/43–45 mm diam, at 35 °C 15–17/38–39 mm diam, at 37 °C 15–16/30–31 mm diam, at 41 °C 9–10/19–20 mm diam, at 45 °C no growth. Colonies on MEA at 41 °C ca 4 mm diam, centrally raised, concave ca 4–6 mm diam, radially moderate deep sulcate, no exudate, reverse chamois to Isabella colour (R30); on CYA at 41 °C, very poor sporulation, mycelium white, funiculose to lightly floccose, no exudate or soluble pigments.
