Technical Abstract: As the vector of the global disease of citrus greening or huanglongbing (HLB), relatively little is known concerning the Asian Citrus Psyllid (ACP) behavior towards visual cues. The objective of this study was to elucidate behavioral responses of ACP towards several colors of light. ACP responded most strongly to violet (400 nm), green (500nm) and lime-green (550nm) light. ACP were more responsive to polarized violet light (400nm) and slightly more responsive to green light (500 nm). Male and female ACP did not different significantly in their responses to visual cues. The ecological implications of these findings as well as potential applications for monitoring ACP through visual traps will be discussed.
