Interpretive Summary: Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) has a wide host range of 750-1200 plant species that includes weeds, wild plants, crops, and ornamentals. Two new CMV hosts, firespike and dotted wild coffee, were recently identified in Florida expanding the known host range for this virus.
Technical Abstract:
The wide host range of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) has been expanded by the identification of Odontonema cuspidatum (firespike) and Psychotria punctata (dotted wild coffee) as CMV hosts in Florida.
