Technical Abstract: This article will provide an overview of late blight resistance research that has been done within the USDA/ARS and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The article is meant to be an informative look at the history of late blight resistance and the ability of the late blight pathogen to overcome resistance. This article was written in response to a request by the potato growers of Wisconsin to provide them with an update on the status of the RB gene and research that is being done on breeding for late blight resistance.
