Interpretive Summary: Soft red and soft white winter wheat is used for a wide array of products in the domestic milling industry. All of the wheat samples were judged acceptable by the majority of the customers. The primary purposes of the project are to educate buyers, direct marketing, and provide feedback to breeders.

Technical Abstract: The Soft Wheat Quality Council (SWQC) will provide an organization structure to evaluate the quality of soft wheat experimental lines and variety that may be grown in the traditional growing regions of the United States. The SWQC also will establish other activities as requested by the membership. The SWQC operates under the direction and supervision of the Wheat Quality Council (WQC). The mission of the SWQC is to provide a forum for leadership and communication in promoting continuous quality improvement among the various elements of the community of soft wheat interests. In this panel, the industry members selected the new cultivars USG 3120, Arcadia, SY 9978, E5011B, Saranac and OH751 as similar or superior to their paired checks. E5024 was identified as slightly inferior to the check cultivar for quality but was recognized as a significant improvement in Fusarium head blight resistance over the check cultivar.
