Citation: Wood, B.W. 2011. Orchard nitrogen management: Which nitrogen source is best? Pecan Grower. 22(3):10-17.

Interpretive Summary: Suboptimal management of nitrogen fertility in pecan orchards leads to a loss of nutmeat yield and quality, but also a waste of natural resources and money. This article reviews several basic guiding principles useful to orchard managers when developing nitrogen management strategies, and determining which nitrogen source is best for their situation. Adherence to these principles will reduce orchard nitrogen input and potential environmental harm while increasing orchard productivity.
