Interpretive Summary: Proper identification and knowledge of weed biology and ecology is essential to developing and implementing control strategies for weeds that threaten agriculture, forests, urban areas, and natural plant communities. An interactive DVD-ROM encyclopedia for 685 weed species was developed with over 3700 color photographs. Distribution maps, illustrations, habitat information, toxic properties, crops affected, and interactive glossary and keys to immature and mature weeds are provided for each species. This DVD is unique because it is contains the major agricultural weeds of Canada and the United States and three narrated lessons on identification, morphology, and reproduction of plants and customized presentation maker.

Technical Abstract: An interactive DVD-ROM encyclopedia of North American weeds was developed that includes home pages for 685 weed species descriptions, over 3700 color photos, illustrated collar regions for grasses, distribution maps, habitat information, crops affected, ecological information, and hot-linked illustrated glossary, index, and interactive keys for immature and mature plants for each species. The DVD includes a customized page maker to allow the user to produce presentations and three interactive narrated lesson plans on identification, morphology, and reproduction of plants.
