Technical Abstract: This manuscript is the Key to Species for the book "The Yeasts, a Taxonomic Study, 5th edition." The key is based on fermentation and growth reactions and includes 1414 species. The key provides a means for identifying species if molecular means are not available. The physiological reactions that serve as species-specific key characters can be used to formulate isolation media specific for the species of interest.
