Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This chapter describes the ascomycete yeast genus Wickerhamia and is to be published in The Yeasts, A Taxonomic Study, 5th edition. The genus Wickerhamia is known from one species, W. fluorescens. Based on multigene phylogenetic analysis, Wickerhamia appears most closely related to the genera Lodderomyces and Spathaspora. The genus divides by bipolar budding and is characterized by large nuclei, which can be easily visualized by phase contrast microscopy.
