Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This chapter describes the ascomycete yeast genus Yamadazyma and is to be published in "The Yeasts, a Taxonomic Study, 5th edition." The genus Yamadazyma was derived from the genus Pichia following a multigene phylogenetic analysis. At present, there are 6 known species assigned to the genus. Several of the species are worldwide in distribution and one of them, Y. triangularis, appears to be an opportunistic human pathogen.
