Interpretive Summary: In research on phytochemical investigations, we use some equipment and materials which can be hazardous to employees or our environment if suitable precautions are not taken. Certain hazards exist and risks must be carefully considered and examined. The objective of this chapter is to minimize or eliminate human exposure to hazardous chemicals in the laboratory and in the environment. Safety precautions must be in place and specific requirements must be adequately met by personnel. Considerations and guidelines specific for phytochemical investigations are set forth in this chapter.
