Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: This presentation covers advances in lignin chemistry (and our Helsinki connection) on dibenzodioxocins, spirodienones, and reduced structures in lignins. It also explores the various roles in defending lignification theory (based on Freudenberg's original hypothesis) against a supposed new contender advocating absolute structural control over the synthesis of lignins, a notion that has now been compellingly disproven.
