Technical Abstract: A recently proven method for precipitating significant phosphorus from dairy lagoons was incorporated to the Integrated Farm System Model. A whole-farm analysis of this BMP, including environmental and economical effects, were evaluated for an organic dairy farm in Washington. The BMP provides a non-laborious method for removing phosphorus before irrigation and also crystallizes it into a compact, readily transportable form. This BMP potentially offers a means of significantly restoring regional and farm P balances.
