Technical Abstract: Downy mildew of beet, a disease caused by the oomycete pathogen Peronospora farinosa f. sp. betae, can cause a problem in cool, moist growing areas. Symptoms include small, distorted, light green, thickened leaves. Characteristics of the pathogen, epidemiology and management strategies are discussed.
