Interpretive Summary: 'Teamaker' is a recently released hop (Humulus lupulus L.) variety containing ultra-low levels of alpha acids and high levels of the bacteriostatic beta acids, a unique situation in the Humulus species. Potential uses of this variety lie primarily as: an antibiotic replacement in animal feed, sugar processing, herbal teas and as a "late-hopping" aroma hop where alpha acid content is of no consequence. Interest by both growers and alternative users of beta acids (ie: animal feed and sugar processing industries) spurred the release of this material even though brewery interest is low.

Technical Abstract: 'Teamaker' is a new hop (Humulus lupulus L.) variety exhibiting high beta-acids and near-zero alpha acids soft resins contents, a unique situation in the Humulus species. Teamaker arose as a selection from the cross, USDA 19105 x USDA 19046M, and as such has the genetic composition of 5/16th Fuggle, 1/8th Late Grape, 1/8th Late Cluster and 7/16th unknown. Potential uses of this variety lie primarily as: a replacement of antibiotics in animal feed, a bacteriostatic in sugar processing, herbal teas, and as a "late-hopping" aroma hop where alpha acid content is of no consequence.
