Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: Potential Agricultural applications for RF and microwave energy include selective dielectric heating of insects in grain, treatment of seed to improve germination, and conditioning of products to improve nutritional value and shelf life. Measurement applications include permittivity-density relationships for granular and powdered materials, and use of microwave measurements for sensing grain and seed moisture content and bulk density.
