Interpretive Summary: Technical Abstract: This book is an ambitious and successful collection of independent chapters on very relevant topics in the field of lipid biotechnology. Although it includes many of the most relevant topics in lipid biotechnology, it does not claim to be a comprehensive treatise on this topic. An example of an important "lipid biotechnology" topic that is not covered would be conjugated linoleic acid biochemistry and biotechnology, and the unique "biohydrogenation" reaction that is part of its biosynthetic pathway. This book will be useful to those who are involved in this fast-paced field, or those who need to acquire a basic understanding of the status of the research developments in this field. |
