Interpretive Summary:

Technical Abstract: The nutritional quality of soybeans is limited by low levels of methionine. Methionine overproducing soybeans were developed by mutagenizing soybean seeds and selecting either for resistance to ethionine or for dark green foliage characteristic of methionine over-producing plants. Seeds from the methionine over-producing lines had a significantly higher level of methionine than those of the control plants each of two years.
