Research Project: Biological and Economic Impacts of Emerging Potato Tuber Necrotic Viruses and the Development of Comprehensive and Sustainable Management Practices

Location: Temperate Tree Fruit and Vegetable Research

Project Number: 2092-21220-002-010-R
Project Type: Reimbursable Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jun 9, 2015
End Date: Aug 31, 2019

Objective:
Evaluate reaction of potato varieties and advanced breeding clones to tobacco rattle virus bearing stubby root nematode in a field exposure.

Approach:
Plant potato clones in the Tobacco Rattle Virus exposure field, at WSU-IAREC in Prosser, WA. Harvest tubers and score necrotic symptoms by slicing tubers. Detect presence of virus using RT-PCR on tuber tissue.
