Research Project: Impact and Management of Plant-Parasitic Nematodes in Washington Juice and Wine Grape Vineyards

Location: Horticultural Crops Research Unit

Project Number: 2072-22000-043-011-S
Project Type: Non-Assistance Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Sep 1, 2015
End Date: Aug 31, 2019

Objective:
Provide Washington grape growers with more information about the damage potential and management of plant-parasitic nematodes.

Approach:
This research will 1) Develop a developmental model for root-knot nematode in wine grapes; 2) Evaluate post-plant nematicides for the management of plant-parasitic nematodes in vineyards; 3) Evaluate the host status for and impact of root-knot nematode on rootstocks and own-rooted grapevines in a long-term field trial; and 4) Extend information on plant-parasitic nematodes to growers and viticulturists.
