Objective:
This collaborative research agreement between ARS, PIADC and the USDA, APHIS, VS Center for Epidemiology and Animal Health (CEAH) will provide for the identification, organization and analysis of previously collected data to be used to develop and/or adapt parameters for foreign animal disease spread modeling. Specific objectives include: 1. Identification, organization and analysis of previously collected data in order to develop and/or adapt parameters for the standard Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) national model. 2. Identification, organization and analysis of previously collected data in order to develop and/or adapt parameters for the Classical Swine Fever (CSF) and African Swine Fever (ASF) national models. 3. Contribute to the design of future studies in order to support the collection of data whcich could be used for modeling. Amendment 3 - 4. Design two studies in order to support the collection of data which could be used for modeling and pending availability of animal rooms, conduct studies.

Approach:
ARS, PIADC will provide data to USDA, APHIS, CEAH from previously conducted pathogenesis and transmission studies of FMDV and ASF. These data will describe quantitative detection of viruses from infected animals and transmission parameters. Epidemiological field data from FADRU collaborations with international partners may be included if permission can be obtained from the collaborating instititutions. The USDA, APHIS, CEAH will conduct training and continuing support on complex disease spread models currently in use inclusive of the requirments and structure of the parameters to ARS, PIADC. This information will be used to identify clinical studies and previous work to support parameter development and/or adaption. Amendment 3 - Clinical studies will be identified to support parameter development and/or adaption.
