Research Project: Ameriflux Management Program

Location: Soil and Water Management Research

Project Number: 5062-12000-010-021-A
Project Type: Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Oct 15, 2014
End Date: Jul 15, 2019

Objective:
1) Generate core eddy covariance data sets and associated meteorological and concentration data sets using AmeriFlux-accepted protocols, and submit data to the LBNL AMP using acceptable protocols; 2) Generate ancillary data using AmeriFlux-accepted protocols and instruments. Submit ancillary data to AMP annually; 3) Analyze, interpret, and synthesize results and communicate findings at science conferences and in peer-reviewed literature.

Approach:
Eddy covariance flux towers will be installed in 3 fields in Minnesota. Half-hourly data will be sent by cell modem to the Cooperator's St. Paul campus, and will be checked daily for fidelity. Ancillary data, such as biomass, yield, and leaf area index will be collected periodically during each growing season and archived. All data will be sent annually to the Ameriflux Data Center. Computer simulations of each system will be conducted by the Cooperator, using the resources of the Supercomputing Institute.
