Spray flux and droplet size will be measured for each type of equipment and spray method used following established spray droplet sizing methods. Mechanical sampling of applied sprays will be conducted using rotary impaction devices from which both spray droplet size and volume deposition can be extracted. Similarly, bees will be collected and processed for fluorescent deposition and spray coverage using camera and microscopy imaging. The rotary impactors will be corrected for sampling inefficiencies to return an estimate of the actual spray flux moving within the treatment area while the bees will provide and estimate of the portion of the spray actually depositing on the target. Working with University personnel and and other cooperating researchers, the collected data will be evaluated, alongside additional data including meteorology, canopy micro-climate, visual deposition assessments, and biological efficacy to determine impact of spray treatments.
