Research Project: Ars-Las Cruces Iag for Wemo, Nri, Esd and Stm Products and Input

Location: Range Management Research

Project Number: 3050-11210-007-38
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: May 01, 2014
End Date: Dec 31, 2015

Objective:
This statement of work covers the tasks and deliverables that will be the primary responsibility of the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) during Year 1. Support of CEAP-Grazing Land modeling studies, collaborate on landscape-level ESD groupings with development of STMs for those groups in selected MLRAs, WEMO development, NRI review, ceptometer collection.

Approach:
1. Finalize structure of Vegetation Dynamics Geodatabase and populate with information from selected Major Land Resource Areas via synthesis and interviews, in collaboration with CEAP-NRCS staff and NRCS Lincoln staff 2. NRI, ESD, & Wind Erosion model: a) Conduct workshops for NRI training as needed; b) Provide input on development of landscape-level STMs from grouped ESDs and assist in development of preliminary protocol for grouping sites and building STMs at a coarse level for use in CEAP modeling activities; c) Continue research on integration of wind erosion modeling and remote sensing into NRI protocols and use of NRI products. 3. Enter into personal services contract to conduct: a) Plant parameter data collection using a ceptometer on selected species in the Sonoran Desert; b) Coordinate with ARS and NRCS staff in Temple, TX (CEAP Modeling Team), and; c) Develop landscape-level STMs for grouped ESDs in MLRAs 74, 77B, 77C and 79.
