Objective:
1. Develop C. hystrix introgression lines aiming to transfer of downy mildew and root knot nematode resistance into cultivated cucumber. 2. Understand the mechanisms of homologous recombination between cucumber and C. hystrix chromosomes.

Approach:
1. Develop C. hystrix introgression lines. 2. Conduct whole genome sequencing and draft genome assembly for C. hystrix. 3. Develop linkage map and establishment of syntenic relationships between C. hystrix and cucumber chromosomes. 4. Develop introgression lines with backcrossing and marker-assisted selection of C. hystrix chromatins. 5. Screening tests for downy mildew and root knot nematode resistances.
