The approach is a team effort of soybean breeding utilizing a coordinated continuous cycling backcross program combined with independent regional selection of high yielding recurrent parents, and variety development. Phenotypic stability of different gene combinations will be assessed across locations to direct refinement of the breeding pipeline. Research for improving breeding approaches across maturity groups to capture diverse positive yield alleles and new sources of seed composition traits will involve applying molecular selection for both soybean maturity and the high oleic/low linolenic acid trait.
