Project Number: 2040-22430-025-27
Project Type: Interagency Reimbursable Agreement

Start Date: Oct 01, 2012
End Date: Sep 30, 2013

1. Assess efficacy of fluorinated methyl eugenol (ME) in traps and blocks that have been weathered under California climate conditions and tested in Hawaii against oriental fruit fly. 2. Determine attractancy of fluorinated methyl eugenol in cooperation with California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) researchers in California. 3. Assess attraction of fluorinated methyl eugenol against peach fruit fly and guava fly in areas where this fly is known to occur in cooperation with foreign cooperators.

The use of methanol eugenol (ME) will be established for detection and eradication of oriental fruit flies. The specific outcomes of this project will include data on the efficacy of flourinated ME as a replacement for ME for use in state and federal action programs.
