We will use genotyping by sequencing to characterize a recombinant inbred line population derived from crossing soybean by wild soybean to identify the genes assoicated with traits that distinguish wild soybean from soybean. We will also use genotyping by sequencing to characterize lines derived from backcrossing soybean to Glycine tomentella five to seven times. We will genotype lines with both high and low yield and compare them to the recurrent soybean parent. Since these experimental lines are expected to have fewer than 2% of their genes derived from G. tomentella, it will be possible to identify candidate regions that are associated with high yield.
