Location: Range Management Research
Project Number: 3050-11210-007-25
Start Date: Jul 01, 2013
End Date: Sep 30, 2014
At each installation, project staff will meet with DoD range managers to map and catalog training activities in terms of their date/age, location, type, intensity, and duration. Any monitoring data or photos associated with these activities will be collected, and site visits conducted to determine current site condition and vegetation community. Data will be collected using an Ecological Site Knowledge Mapping utility developed for this project by Jornada staff. The ecological site response data collected for the installations will then be analyzed and synthesized with existing state-and-transition models to determine likely transition pathways for different types and intensities of training activities. This information will then be used to inform scenarios of land change and erosion susceptibility being developed by the ARS Southwest Watershed Research Center, Tucson, AZ.
