Research Project: Corn Stover Residue Management Project Number: 5030-12000-013-14
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Jan 01, 2013
End Date: Dec 31, 2015

Objective:
Define and demonstrate corn residue management practices that both protect soil quality and maximize yields and economic return to the producer.

Approach:
A 300-acre area at the Iowa State University (ISU) Uthe farm will be managed for continuous corn production using conventional and no-tillage practices. Corn stover will be differentially harvested based on yield, field topography, and soil type. The ARS contribution to the project will be to monitor soil quality response using the Soil Management Assessment Framework (SMAF) and other tools.
