Location: Pasture Systems & Watershed Management Research

Project Number: 1902-13000-012-19
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: May 01, 2012
End Date: May 01, 2014

Objective:
Provide funding for a Chesapeake Bay Watershed (CBW) Science Advisor to help address critical needs of NRCS by providing science based leadership and expert advice on air quality, water quality and nutrient management issues associated with the application of organic and inorganic fertilizers to agricultural fields through the CBW.

Approach:
Individual within the MU has been selected for a detail with NRCS to serve as Science Advisor for the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. The detail has been approved by the NAA Director and ONP. As Science Advisor, individual will work with NRCS leadership to identify agricultural practices with the best potential to contribute to water quality remediation in the bay watershed. Funds will be provided by NRCS to allow the individual's research to continue during the detail and will allow the unit to provide temporary technical support staff and fee-based sample analysis to continue research progress on the project during the detail.
