Objective:
To evaluate the environmental impacts (both odor and water quality) of in-house poultry litter windrow composting. This project will provide funding to upgrade water moninitoring equipment at Riesel in conjunction with on-going project 6206-13610-007-43R "Environmental Effects of In-House Windrow Composting (IWC) of Poultry Litter" and future projects with Texas State Soil & Water Conservation Board (TSSWCB).
Approach:
Runoff samples will be collected from all field sites at the USDA-ARS facility at Riesel, TX, for 2 years to compare the water quality impacts of applying fresh litter and in-house windrow composted liter.
