Research Project: GENETIC STUDIES OF NEW POTENTIAL SOURCES OF RESISTANCE TO WHITE MOLD IN DRY BEAN

Location: Sunflower Research

Project Number: 5442-21220-028-18
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jul 01, 2011
End Date: Sep 30, 2013

Objective:
To evaluate new potential sources of resistance and compare with other genes for resistance and/or genomic regions previously reported in order to determine if the new source(s) could be considered as new and unique.

Approach:
Two breeding lines from the NDSU dry bean breeding program have been recently identified as potential sources of resistance to white mold. A molecular approach will be used to compare these new sources with other genes and genomic regions previously reported in order to determine if they contain new and unique resistance or if the resistance can be traced back to sources of resistance previously known. The most recent and comprehensive list of markers has been published by Soule et al., 2011.
