Research Project: GENOME SEQUENCING AND COMPARATIVE GENOMICS OF THE ZEBRA CHIP DISEASE BACTERIA

Location: Subtropical Plant Pathology Research

Project Number: 6618-22000-039-24
Project Type: Specific Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: Jun 01, 2012
End Date: Sep 30, 2013

Objective:
Screen basal defense resistance genes by inoculating potato varieties and hybrids with the identified Lso effector, and clone and characterize the resistance gene(s) of potato for genetic improvement.

Approach:
Using Agrobacterium-mediated transient expression to screen potato host defense response of different varieties, and clone the putative resistant gene from selected resistant variety/germplasm using Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) or PT-PCR and cloning techniques.
