Research Project: EVALUATING THE INCIDENCE OF MICROBIAL PATHOGENS & CHEMICAL RESIDUES IN CATFISH PRODUCTION AS AFFECTED BY SEASON & REIGN OF PRODUCTION Project Number: 0208-32000-001-33

Objective:
Perform a longitudinal study evaluating the presence of human pathogens, viruses, and chemical residues found on catfish farms/ponds or in catfish processing facilities.

Approach:
ARS will facilitate the execution of research which will evaluate a variety of sampling techniques to determine the most appropriate for pathogen and chemicl sampling on catfish farms. Pathogen test methods include Salmonella, E. coli 0157:H7, Listeria monocytogenes and S. aureus.
