Objective:
To ensure the timely distribution of technology and methods for using Ecological Site Descriptions (ESD) to improve and standardize inventory, assessment, monitoring and management of rangelands. This training is supportive of the ARS mission of promoting the application of research outputs produced by the Agency’s scientists. ARS scientists will be actively involved in preparing and presenting materials for the training.

Approach:
A series of ESD short-courses will be held in FY11 in the western U.S. for members of Federal agencies with rangeland management responsibilities. The courses will have a combination of classroom and field work. The BLM, NRCS, USFS and ARS are co-sponsoring these short courses.
