Research Project: DISCOVER AND DEVELOP PRODUCTS FOR THE PROTECTION OF DEPLOYED MILITARY PERSONNEL FROM ARTHROPODS THAT TRANSMIT PATHOGENS Project Number: 0208-32000-001-17
Project Type: Nonfunded Cooperative Agreement

Start Date: May 12, 2008
End Date: May 11, 2013

Objective:
Facilitate the interactions of Agricultural Research Service (ARS) scientists, communicate and negotiate with other government agencies and industry, and provide technical expertise in order to discover and develop products for the protection of deployed military personnel from arthropods that transmit pathogens.

Approach:
The Cooperator will work from the ARS Mosquito and Fly Research Unit, Center for Medical, Agricultural, and Veterinary Entomology, Gainesville, Florida. Using funds directly from the Armed Forces Pest Management Board, the cooperator will travel to meetings, laboratories, and other sites in order to achieve the objective. Because the program includes multiple ARS laboratories in National Program 104 (Veterinary, Medical, and Urban Entomology), the Cooperator’s Principle Investigator will receive direction from and report results to the ARS, National Program Leader for the purposes outlined in this agreement.
